HOPE

Today I was talking to my friend about hope. We were discussing the pandemic, and hoping for positive change in 2022. We were also reflecting on the small changes which had occurred this Christmas, which, whilst not giving us safety the changes had enabled us to feel somewhat less restricted.

In the Hebrew language the word for hope is ‘TIKVAH, and means expectation or cord, or rope this word also means cord or rope and comes from a root word meaning to bind wait for, or upon.TIKVAH is a rope to hang onto when we go through difficult times, and surely it is the word for the season we are in now.

Much of what we have been doing in the last two years is bolstering each other one minute and sharing our fears the next because we are all in the pandemic together, now we can share TIVAH.

Have you ever been on a nightline with a group of workers or young people? The idea is to teach individuals and the group the need to trust each other to work together. If anyone doesn’t play the game and leaves go of the rope they put themselves at risk, and also their colleagues or friends.

It can be difficult to trust if you are normally independent or struggle, more than normal with needing to know what is going to happen in the future. Many of us have become anxious in recent times, and some have developed serious anxiety disorders due to the disruption of normal life and or cherished rituals.

Just this morning I read some very positive information from an immunologist who is very clear about the progress of the pandemic, and its imminent reduction to an endemic bug through the use of vaccines and the development of new medications.the scientists have given us TIVAH and its very shoddy not to be grateful.

If we fell down a hole, and were thrown a rope we would , most likely take it, and follow the instructions given to use it to climb out, in the case of the pandemic many will not do this because of fear and lack of trust. Feeling fearful and being unable to trust another is normal in our current circumstances, so I want to encourage you to trust.

In the aforementioned discussion I had with my friend we were talking of the progress from nothing but fear and lockdown to vaccinations and medications and all so quickly and skillfully developed whilst the scientiste hit the ground running. Surely therein is hope and we need to be grateful. Don’t listen to the fearful garbage individuals and groups are spewing out, use your mind , weigh up the situations as they arise and act with wisdom and honour to protect yourself and others.

Scientists have given us TIVAH and in our waiting times we have been given time to review our lifestyle and make positive changes. In this new year, live not by lies, selfishness and greed live for good and for others.

Ladies and Gentlemen of science, across the globe I salute you thank you for your dedicated work!

COME ON BE HUMAN SHARE TIVAH HAPPY NEW YEAR!
