HERE WE ARE AGAIN

The last time we had a discussion in this spot we were looked at the drag we can experience in seeking wellness and recovery following the onslaught of the pandemic, it is a fight,at times, to motivate oneself to continue managing our physical and mental wellness because, although we would like to believe the curse of the pandemic has gone this is not true! It’s incidious nature is still seeping through the world populations, not just on the health level, but on all levels of life and living. The enjoyment, for those who liked shopping has gone due to rising costs, shortages, and the constant pressure of robbing Peter to pay Paul.

As our world changes on so many levels, including ‘climate change’, and the unstable governments we see again the rotten side of humanity, that regressive and shadow side of the personality which , in trying to survive and cope is in survival mode, and is exhibiting and practising meanness, greed, dishonesty and utter rottenness, where this is not completely true certainly there is a question around trust, and for some who do not know what is happening to them, there is evidence of paranoia and increasing evidence of anxiety these are just a few references to the problems we are facing, and of course there are others.

In the last few months I have noticed, even normally strong people are becoming aware that life feels sureal, there is a difficultly in making and holding connections with ourselves and others, and it is possible that this is touching humanity at the very roots of their being,in,’ the need for belonging’The many mental health issues which exist and continue to rise are causing huge problems which are not yet being acknowledged ,but are emerging in different ways through loss of significant purpose and meaning in life and a rise in suicidal ideation.

In the beginning of the pandemic much was made of the caption ‘we’re all in this together’ of course the hope with circulating this was to encourage mindful behaviour considering others, but in many ways it contained deep stupidity as there was no one left to help all of us as we were plunged into the horror of what happened. It follows that there has been a huge rise in unhealthy mental health practices such as denial, with subsequent loss of balance.

I find it hard to believe that those most involved in caring and other front line workers are said to be starving and unable to pay their bills, yet this is true and is horrifying in the extreme. How much can human beings stand given the pile up of pandemic, climate change and the economical dark path, with its continual rising prices.

Many of us can remember lean times in our lives when we had next to nothing and did not know where the next meal was coming from, we were often unwilling to share our need as it shattered our personal independence and dignity. In the current situation I have heard normally responsible people shame those in need through their conversation, this needs to stop. Most of us are too good at blaming and shaming ourselves. In this low period of pressure and horrible stress lets try and centre ourselves and think what we can do to help overall and in each day.

Have loving kindness for each other and use your own self care techniques to balance yourself and then care for others. Imagine practical happenings and then try to carry them through.

KEEP RECOVERING!
