Lets refer back to the story of recycling the garments by ripping them out and re knitting them. I used to get so frustrated when my mother wanted me to wind the wool as she ripped it because I thought I had better things to do, and I hoped the garment was not for me as I wanted one that was totally new——”wee monkey.” Sometimes the wool would tangle and I’d get scolded [perish the thought that I did it deliberately].
Yesterday everyone I spoke to seemed to be in a tangle about the news that there was not just going to be climate change, but that we were actually in it.I say they were in a tangle because this was another worry and fear on top of the pandemic. One lady said she had recently been to a lovely wedding, and afterwards two people tested positive for COVID and now here we were needing to live with the climate news. This lady was able to hold on to her strong faith to help her others just felt rather hopeless.
I think we are waiting on good news and all we hear is more bad stuff, or ongoing struggles. I think for some of us we have been shocked and maybe angry to be told humans caused the climate change, and this is true we have mismanaged our responsibilities to care for the earth and its inhabitants and went on with our greedy and selfish life styles.it’s as though we need recycled and also to return to a meditative way of living, rather than an impulsive grabbing of all we can get.Lets get back to asking ourselves what do I need, not what do I want? look at the clutter we would save if we did this?
Yesterday’s news contained a note of hope we can still change this progression of destructive climate change, or at least halt it let your rage out and reconnect to a meditative way of live, live from your spirit reaching out compassionately to the world its peoples and all the creatures and plants within it.
When we live with greed and impulsiveness we are out of harmony with ourselves and others rather like an orchestra with one section broken.Allow yourself to hear the broken orchestra sound, sit with it, mourn, weep then get up and begin to change and mend things around you.
The tangled wool was used and reused it had some flaws, and was hard to wear as it had been created second hand, but the garment did its job in keeping the child warm, so it is with our world it is badly flawed seriously traumatised and damaged but we can make improvements.
LETS DO IT FIX THE ORCHESTRA!
